DALLAS/EWORLDWIRE/Sep. 9, 2004 --- C I Host, a global leader in Web hosting and Internet solutions, will open its fourth data center, a 10,000 square foot facility in San Jose, Calif., in November. The center will further extend the company's foothold in the North American colocation market.

"Many of our customers house their equipment in at least two of our data centers for redundancy and geographic content distribution," said Christopher Faulkner, CEO of C I Host. "We have received hundreds of requests for a Silicon Valley location and we are happy to be able to provide it."

Housing equipment and serving data at different locations around the globe is important for companies who have customers in several locations. The closer the server is to the customer the more quickly the web page will load and the more likely the customer will stay on line - an important consideration in e-commerce.

The San Jose center, like C I Host's centers in Los Angeles, Chicago and Bedford, Texas, will be completely owned and operated by C I Host. The newest center, which opened in Chicago two years ago, quickly became EBITDA-positive and is signing up new colocation and enterprise customers daily. A London center is planned to open in 2005.

Located in downtown San Jose, the center is just half  a mile from the MAE-West NAP. The convenient location will make bandwidth and fiber plentiful and economical for C I Host customers. The center will be designated CDC-04, where "CDC" means C I Host Data Center and "04" indicates the order it which it was built.

"We will be installing direct GigE connections back to the MAE WEST building to pull in bandwidth from diverse carriers, giving us an out-of-the-gate bandwidth allotment of 1,000 megabits per second," Faulkner said. "The new center will also complement our GameVault online gaming brand."

All C I Host's centers are protected by sophisticated physical and cyber-security systems. The San Jose center will be staffed 24/7 with trained system administrators to ensure that customer's web sites and servers stay active and reliable.

In addition, the San Jose Data Center will be protected from assaults from natural causes or hackers by the highest possible security measures - including instant water detection and intrusion sensors, closed circuit TV with 30-day DVR recording, infrared and biometric hand scanners and pre-action sprinkler systems.

The facility's physical security is augmented by its internal location, with no walls bordering a building exterior. Excellent physical security is enforced with personnel on site 24 hours every day of the year, a security guard at every entrance, advanced instant locking and motion detection.

The center is located within a controlled environment with multiple Liebert air systems with N+1 temperature, humidity and air-quality regulation. Two megawatts of power from multiple power grids supply electricity from diverse locations to a private substation on site, which is backed up and conditioned by UPS systems with auto-start diesel generators.

C I Host has consistently expanded over the past several years. Built on a solid financial foundation with no bank loans or venture capital, it has been able to grow and prosper even as competitors went bankrupt or scaled back their operations.
