R1Soft Adds Continuous Data Protection Support for Ubuntu, Debian, DirectAdmin

HOUSTON, Texas–(March 14, 2007)—Righteous Software (, a developer of disk-based backup solutions, announced today that its line of Continuous Data Protection (CDP) solutions now support implementation on servers powered by Ubuntu and Debian Linux distributions. The CDP software is also now integrated with the DirectAdmin web control panel.

The increased platform support continues R1Soft’s goal of making its innovative CDP solutions available to a wider assortment of users. Support for Ubuntu and Debian Linux distributions has been in development for the past 4 months, and the company hopes to add support for additional platforms in the coming months.

“We have continually worked to increase the reach and compatibility of our data backup products, and providing support for Ubuntu and Debian platforms is a vital component of this initiative. These two platforms are used by thousands of Linux servers globally, and as the only provider of Continuous Data Protection solutions for the Linux market, it is important we serve these users,” said David Wartell, Righteous Software founder and CEO.

R1Soft now also provides an add-on integration module for the DirectAdmin site control panel, allowing users of DirectAdmin to access Continuous Data Protection features within their control panel interface. The company provides similar support for the Ensim, cPanel and Plesk control panels.

R1Soft’s CDP products diverge significantly from traditional backup technologies, which essentially copy files at intervals from hard disks to another medium, such as a tape drive. These methods often only provide data protection on a daily or weekly basis, resulting in large losses of data in the event of a disaster. R1Soft’s CDP Server, however, monitors changes to the disk as they happen, thereby reducing backup windows to seconds or minutes. It also affords even busy servers a significantly higher level of reliability in the event of a disaster, without the consumption of a large amount of system resources.
